How we measure

Methodology

Every metric, formula, and assumption used by MarketMoodIQ.

What MarketMoodIQ tracks

MarketMoodIQ stores periodic snapshots of social market data — social volume, social engagement, sentiment, creator activity, and rank — for crypto assets, market narratives, topics, stablecoins, and creators. We compute derived intelligence scores from these snapshots and publish historical trends.

Social Volume

Social Volume measures the number of posts, mentions, and other social interactions involving an asset, narrative, or topic in a given window. A higher value indicates more crowd attention. It does not measure trading volume.

Sentiment

Sentiment is a normalized score reflecting the balance of positive vs negative social discussion. Sentiment is noisy and can be influenced by spam, jokes, sarcasm, or news cycles. We never claim sentiment predicts price.

Social Engagement

Social Engagement counts likes, replies, shares, and other interactions on social posts about an asset. We use it alongside social volume to estimate the depth of attention, not just the spread.

Creator Activity

Creator Activity tracks how many distinct social accounts are talking about an asset, narrative, or topic. Concentrated activity from a small number of accounts is treated differently from broad-based discussion.

Narrative Heat

Narrative Heat Score combines social volume, engagement, sentiment, active creators, and acceleration versus recent baselines. It is a relative score, not an absolute one.

Social Velocity

Social Velocity compares current social volume with an asset’s recent baseline (typically a rolling 7-day average). A value above 1.0 indicates above-normal attention; below 1.0 indicates fading attention.

Sentiment Velocity

Sentiment Velocity is the change in sentiment relative to its 7-day baseline. It highlights inflection points where the mood is shifting.

Engagement Quality

Engagement Quality is social engagement divided by social mentions. A high value suggests fewer but deeper conversations; a low value suggests broad, shallow chatter.

Attention-to-Price Divergence

Attention-to-Price Divergence is the difference between an asset’s social volume change and its price change over the same window. Large positive values indicate attention rising faster than price; large negatives suggest the opposite.

Creator Concentration

Creator Concentration measures how much of an asset’s total social engagement comes from a small number of top creators. High concentration is a signal that the narrative may be driven by a few voices rather than broad-based interest.

Mood Score

Mood Score is a 0–100 composite weighting sentiment, social velocity, engagement quality, creator growth, and abnormality risk. Labels: Negative (0–19), Cautious (20–39), Neutral (40–59), Positive (60–79), Very Positive (80–100).

Stablecoin Confidence Score

Stablecoin Confidence Score combines peg-related data, negative social chatter, depeg-related discussion, regulatory mentions, and abnormal social activity. It is a social-risk monitor, not a solvency assessment.

Why data can be noisy

Social data is inherently noisy. Spam, bot activity, viral memes, and news cycles can produce sharp short-term swings that have no relationship to fundamentals or price. Use multi-day windows and look for sustained patterns rather than single spikes.

How often data updates

High-priority assets (top 50) refresh every 15–30 minutes. Mid-tier assets refresh every 2–6 hours. Long-tail assets refresh daily. Narratives, stablecoins, and creators have their own cadences. Every public page shows a "Last updated" timestamp.

Historical archive

Each refresh creates a snapshot row. Over time, MarketMoodIQ accumulates a historical archive that powers trend charts, weekly reports, and longitudinal analysis — independent of LunarCrush’s API window.
