First Digital USD (FDUSD) is a fiat-backed stablecoin issued by First Digital Labs, a Hong Kong-based trust company. FDUSD rose to prominence when Binance prioritized it as a quote currency after BUSD was wound down in 2023.
Reserves and disclosure
FDUSD reserves are held primarily in US Treasuries and bank deposits with publicly disclosed banking partners. First Digital publishes monthly attestation reports. The issuer’s Hong Kong base means FDUSD operates under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s evolving stablecoin regime rather than US oversight.
Adoption pattern
FDUSD’s usage is heavily concentrated on Binance โ both as a quote currency for spot pairs and as collateral on derivatives. This concentration means FDUSD social discussion is unusually sensitive to Binance-specific news: exchange policy changes, BNB ecosystem developments, and regulatory milestones affecting Binance.
Peg history
FDUSD has held its peg in normal market conditions but has shown more sensitivity than larger stablecoins to single-venue events. The April 2025 episode where FDUSD briefly traded ~3% below peg amid Justin Sun- related selling pressure was the most notable stress event.
How to use the confidence chart
A confidence reading above 70 is the steady-state norm. Dips often correspond to venue-specific events rather than issuer-specific problems. Cross-check against Binance news flow when investigating confidence movements. Research only โ not a solvency rating.
