About Ethereum

Ethereum (ETH) is the largest smart-contract platform by application activity and TVL. Launched in 2015 by Vitalik Buterin and a co-founding team, Ethereum has been the foundation of DeFi, NFTs, stablecoin issuance, and the broader on-chain economy. Following the September 2022 Merge it transitioned to proof of stake; subsequent upgrades (Shanghai, Dencun) introduced staked-ETH withdrawals and L2-friendly blob fees.
