Momentum Score captures the short-term rate of change of a narrative’s heat. A heat score of 65 with momentum of 80 means a narrative that’s currently mid-pack but climbing fast — a more interesting setup than a heat-90 narrative whose momentum has rolled over to 35.
How to read it
- Above 70 — narrative is gaining quickly. Inflection is happening now.
- 55–70 — gradual build. Steady tailwind for the constituent assets.
- 45–55 — steady-state. Heat is stable; no meaningful trend.
- 30–45 — fading. The narrative is losing share of mind.
- Below 30 — sharp decline. Watch for capitulation in the underlying assets.
Pairing with heat
Momentum gives you direction; heat gives you altitude. The most actionable combinations are:
- High heat, falling momentum — late stage. Risk of rotation out.
- Mid heat, rising momentum — early stage. The good setup.
- Low heat, rising momentum — embryonic. Could fade or could be the next big move.
Common misreadings
Momentum is calculated on smoothed heat values to filter noise — so very short bursts (single-day spikes) may not show up as momentum changes immediately. For sub-daily reads, look at acceleration instead.
